Day 1 - Sunday: Hello Cuba

  • Arrival at Havana's José Martí International Airport
  • Private group transfer to your hotel located in the heart of Havana's cultural district
  • Free time to settle in to your hotel room and freshen up
  • Group welcome dinner with your guide and tourmates
  • Your guide will keep you posted on entertainment options around the city

Day 2 - Monday: Old Havana, architecture and history

  • Morning visit to the Scale Model of Old Havana
  • Next we'll take a walking tour of Old Havana
  • Group welcome lunch at the restaurant Conde del Castillo
  • Afterwards we'll visit the Centro Cultural Antiguos Almacenes de Depósito San José
  • Return to your hotel and freshen up
  • Dinner at El Patio restaurant
  • Witness the dramatic cannon firing ceremony [El Cañonazo]

Day 3 - Tuesday: Natural splendor of rural Cuba, Cuban cooking

  • Morning departure to Las Terrazas eco-community
  • Next, we'll meet with local artists and craft workers in their homes and studios
  • We'll visit a local school and talk with its teachers and students
  • Later we'll walk the incredible ruins of a French Coffee Plantation
  • We have lunch at an open-air restaurant specializing in traditional country cuisine
  • You'll have free time to swim in the fresh waters of the Río San Juan
  • We'll meet the environmental scientists and technicians responsible for the restoration of the jungles and forests of Las Terrazas
  • Return to Havana
  • Dinner not included, your guide can suggest eateries
  • Tonight you'll learn the secrets of nueva Cubana cuisine from the master chef and food staff at El Santo Ángel Restaurante
  • 9:00 PM Noche de fiesta cubana – a special welcome party

Day 4 - Wednesday: Community center, arts, and Jazz Opening Ceremony!

  • Visit to the Convent of Our Lady of Belén
  • Panoramic tour by Modern Havana
  • We'll feast on a delicious lunch hosted by José Rodríguez Fúster
  • Followed by a private guided tour of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana
  • Return to your hotel and freshen up
  • This evening you are free to explore stellar eateries
  • Attend to the 30th Havana Jazz Festival opening ceremony

Day 5 - Thursday: Hemingway, farms and the Havana Jazz Festival

  • This morning we're off to visit Lookout Farm
  • We'll visit the UBPC Vivero Organopónico Alamar
  • We'll have lunch at El Ajiaco Paladar [private owned restaurant]
  • Next we'll visit Cojímar, a small fishing village of east Havana
  • Return to your hotel and freshen up
  • This evening you are free to explore stellar eateries
  • Tonight you'll experience the incredible sounds and rhythms of world jazz greats

Day 6 - Friday: Afrocubanismo and the Havana Jazz Festival

  • Morning we'll cross Havana harbor to the Municipality of Regla
  • We'll visit Regla's church dedicated to a black virgin
  • We'll tour the Museo Municipal de Regla
  • Attend to a performance of Conjunto Folclórico de Regla
  • Lunch at Restaurant Bar La Marina, a fabulous new eatery in Havana
  • Next we'll visit to the Casa de África
  • Return to your hotel and freshen up
  • This evening you are free to explore stellar eateries
  • Tonight you'll experience the incredible sounds and rhythms of world jazz greats

Day 7 - Saturday: Time to explore and the Havana Jazz Festival

  • Morning and afternoon is your freedom to explore time
  • How about a day excursion to the sugar white sand beaches of Eastern beaches just twelve miles outside the metropolis?
  • Today you can revel on the beach
  • This evening you are free to explore stellar eateries
  • Tonight you'll experience the incredible sounds and rhythms of world jazz greats

Day 8 - Sunday: Cuban history, music, and Jazz Fest Gala Event

  • Morning visit to the Museum of the Revolution
  • We'll visit the Callejón de Hamel
  • The balance of the afternoon is free for you to explore the city on your own or with you tourmates
  • Farewell group dinner at the popular Restaurante El Aljibe
  • We're off by coach to final event of the 29th Havana International Jazz Festival!

Day 9 - Monday: Goodbye Cuba

  • Check-out of your hotel
  • Transfer to Havana's José Martí International Airport for your return home
  • Don't forget to save 25.00 CUC for your Cuban airport departure fee and some money for meals on the airplane and while in transit

Things happen: Our Cuban partners work super hard to make your tour unfold seamlessly. Unlike here, however, they lack easy access to communications, transportation and supplies. Once in a while, itinerary changes are necessary to accommodate island realities. If this happens anything missed is replaced with another activity or service of equal interest and value.
